June 22 Summertime!

Summer's here ...... and time to harvest raspberries (yum) and sow squash (Delicata Honey Boat, Early Butternut and Sunburst Scallopini)
Garden overview - pole beans just starting to climb (far left), tomatoes, potatoes and nastursiums all looking good;  lots of mint to harvest in our herb garden - chilled mint tea is a great summer refresher and this looks good too - the Nojito









Also time for garden maintenance - new broom test run and time to get the raspberries under control -  new post should help
Can't forget the harvest - Little Marvel and Alderman peas, Green Pearl Gai Lan, assorted lettuce greens, kale and raspberries

June 15 No Need to Water Today

The morning started out with harvesting and trimming ........

the cabbage moth's favourite food in our garden is kale - lots of chewed leaves - but still lots of baby kale to harvest

tomatoes are looking healthy and the potatoes are flowering - Bed 8 Yukon Gold was harvested for some tasty baby potatoes ....... and just in time before record breaking rains came - what a team - totally soaked but still working!!

and the fruits of our labour - mixed kales, potatoes, mint, lettuce and garlic scapes - yum

June 8 The Garden Green

An explosion of growth in our garden as mid-June approaches ...... the garlic scapes are ready for harvest - check out this site for recipes  http://garlicfarmct.com/recipes.htm
and the potato plants are in flower - almost time to harvest a few baby potatoes

June 1 Garden Improvements

We now have two rain barrels, and after much digging and levelling they are looking good - our hope is to improve our watering routine with easier access to water .....
and the garden continues to grow - garlic and potatoes - assorted green beans - kale and super gourmet salad blend
we harvested the few remaining spinach plants gowing to seed in Bed 11 and filled the space with a row of Ella dill
